What Union with Christ Could Mean to You (Galatians 2:20)
Of all the verses in the Bible that tell of our relationship with Christ, Galatians 2:20 stands above them all. It is packed with helpful insights into our being "in Christ" and "Christ in us."Paul here is referring to an actual participation of the believer in Christ's death and resurrection. I will explain how he does this on the basis of the union that we have as believers with the Lord (see also Romans 6:4-8; and Colossians 2:12-14; 3:1-4). This concept is especially displayed in Paul's use of the perfect tense in speaking of his having been crucified with Christ. The speaker will explain the glorious meaning of this: we died with Christ, that is our "old man" died with Him. This was designed by God so that Christ, rather than the old identity, might live in us.
John Best will lead you phrase by phrase through the wonderful and practical truths of this magnificent verse. You will truly find "What Union with Christ Could Mean to You." "I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and delivered Himself up for me."
